What is Atlas all about? From the beginning of GAINDEGIA, the Observatory for the Basque Country’s social-economic development, its members understood that there was a need for tools to find out about Euskal Herria and what life is like there. www.atlasa.net was created to cover these needs.
Using new technologies Atlas can be used to represent Basque Country in terms of maps and images. But that’s not all, it also offers the possibility of representing data on the maps. Result: the graphic representation of images and indicators.
As the graphic representation of images and indicators is the basis of Atlas, its use and applications are infinite.
Main characteristics of Atlas:
Who are we? Gaindegia, the Observatory for Euskal Herria’s social-economic development, is an association set up to find out about the current situation of Euskal Herria and its social-economic situation. Using this knowledge, Gaindegia aims to promote participation and debate on its development.
Gaindegia is composed of professionals from different fields and sectors such as trade unions, businesspeople, economists, university professors, journalists, various other professionals, etc. More information on www.gaindegia.org.
Why and what for? The Atlas project sprang from the need to create tools to find out more about life in Euskal Herria. Working from this objective, we have created the Atlas on Basque Country’s economy and society: a technologically based application which results in a graphic application.
The information collected by Atlas refers to the field of the economy and society, which is Gaindegia’s study field. In the future, the association aims to update and implement Atlas in terms of contents and technology.
How are the images obtained from Atlas referenced? It is essential to refer to the Atlas using its website www.atlasa.net in any application for its contents in any other work or application.
